Citrus Connection expanding service in Lakeland, Winter Haven

LAKELAND — New routes and expanded service are small victories for Citrus Connection, the public transit agency that has made incrementalism its primary tactic following vast cuts to bus services in the face of an aging bus fleet and an inability to replace them.

The bus agency is adding a northeast Winter Haven route, calling it the “Eagle Express” for its Polk State College connection, and a Lakeland route to service employers along County Line Road on Jan. 3.

It is also increasing the frequency of its Legoland Route 30 from 90 minutes to 60 minutes and adding Sunday service.
