Lakeland, FL – NuJak Companies, Inc. was named to the University of Florida’s 2017 Gator100 during a ceremony Feb. 10th at UF’s J. Wayne Reitz Union Grand Ballroom.

Sponsored by the UF Alumni Association, in partnership with the UF Entrepreneurship & Innovation Center, the Gator100 recognizes the 100 fastest-growing businesses owned or led by UF alumni.  Ernst & Young calculated each company’s compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) over the past three years to generate the ranking.

NuJak Companies, Inc. was ranked in the Top 10, ranking at #6, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 123.57%.

In 1989, Frank Kendrick received his Bachelor of Building Construction from the University of Florida.  On April 6, 1992, the UF alum founded NuJak Companies, Inc. in Lakeland, FL.  NuJak is a full-service commercial construction company specialized in providing pre-construction, construction management, and design-build services in the state of Florida.  In 2016, NuJak was recognized on several regional and state fastest growing lists including:

  • Florida Fast 100 List as the #6 Fastest Growing company in the state
  • Tampa Bay Business Journal’s (TBBJ) Fast 50 List at #3

“It’s been an amazing journey, to say the least, to get to where we are today,” said Frank Kendrick, President & CEO of NuJak.  “It hasn’t always been easy, especially after the recession, when everyone in the construction industry was hurting, but we managed to come out of that experience a better, stronger, and faster company – more strategic in our approach to hiring the right people, the type of business we pursue and the markets we grow in.  The wave of success and recognition happening right now for NuJak is even sweeter as we celebrate our 25-year anniversary in April 2017.”

To qualify for the Gator100, companies must have been in business for five years or more as of Oct. 1, 2016, and have had verifiable annual revenues of $250,000 or more in 2013. Additionally, a UF alumnus or alumni must have met one of the following three leadership criteria:

  1. Owned 50 percent or more of the company from Jan. 1, 2013, through Oct. 1, 2016; or
  2. Served as company’s chief executive from Jan. 1, 2013, through Oct. 1, 2016; or
  3. Founded the company and been active as a member of the most senior management team from Jan. 1, 2013, through Oct. 1, 2016.

“The Gator100 is a campus-wide initiative that recognizes the entrepreneurial spirit entrenched in the university,” said Timothy Walsh, the Executive Director of the UF Alumni Association and Assistant Vice President of Alumni Affairs. “UF Alumni have created and guided some of the most innovative and profitable businesses in the nation and world. The Gator100 celebrates the very best of our Gator Entrepreneurs.”
